Our Curriculum

At Burton Green, we have created a broad and balanced curriculum which is ambitious, dynamic and engaging. It meets the needs of all learners, including the disadvantaged and SEN, to ensure that our children are developed as well-rounded citizens. Our curriculum focuses on PSCHE, sport, health, well-being and wide cultural experiences, as well as core skills.

In Key Stages 1 and 2, this year are topics are:

  • Autumn: Around the World
  • Spring: York
  • Summer: Environment Explorers

Subjects such as Art, Design and Technology, History and Geography are taught though topic lessons, following the objectives in the National Curriculum. Each class has its own Twitter account so that our rich curriculum is celebrated. We also have themed days and weeks e.g. Art and Design Technology days, Culture weeks, Diwali day and Science week to ensure curriculum coverage in an exciting way. Children’s life skills are further developed through Forest School, cooking and sporting activities.
